Cryptic Crosswords and Generative AI by Dr. Gordon Fletcher

MSS AI meeting on June 18, 2024

Dr. Gordon Fletcher, Associate Dean: Research and Innovation at Salford Business School, shared with us his practical experience of using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Manga TV, NightCafe and others) to create engaging content derived from academic papers.

The specificity of Cryptic crosswords turned out to be a big challenge for current generative AI tools and also provided good motivation to look together at the applied LLM methodology.

Our speaker shared with us many practical insights into the features of LLMs, with full explanation of his discoveries.

The accelerating development of technology, especially rapidly improving LLMs, amaze us with their creative potential. 

Intellectual discussion is always a very attractive, strong part of our meetings.  During that meeting we had a special opportunity to know more how strongly and with what effects Generative AI influences the musical industry.

Generative AI – on the one hand – is becoming a huge facilitation in the field of creative activities, and at the same time, it is rapidly removing monopoly in the creative industries.
